My Nikon dslr is collecting dust. it’s just too heavy to carry with me on hikes, bike rides, to the beach, etc. I recently purchased sony’s zoom lens and will probably change the body of the camera soon bc the shortcut button doesnt work well (probably got some sand underneath, my fault) but i will def stick with sony’s alpha cameras. Because i can carry them so easily, i end up taking a lot more photos than my friends that have DSLRs.

Funny thing, I have noticed that many ppl (especially those that don’t know much about cameras) think that only “big black cameras” can take great photos. Obviously that’s not true… I love the quality of photos taken with my sony and the fact you can go fully manual. it’s great.

Since I travel about a third of the year, every little inch and ounce helps. So far, I’ve been extremely impressed by the image quality. The first pictures I’ve taken and processed are up at http://iransofaraway.smugmug.com/Tainan-november-13 if anybody wants an idea of what you can do with this little beast. I think it is the perfect travel camera when you do really care about image quality.
