Too many words. Greed, plain and simple.

It would save you from the hassle of getting a local sim in every country. I’ve used Maxroam before and found them to have decent data and voice rates.

Thwy are a disgusting organisation and thankfully due to karma (and corporate mismanagement) their reputation is going in the sh1tta..

We spent more than a year looking into international data plans in the States that we could take with us as we drive to South America. All carriers discontinued their plans one by one. We said, fine! If you want to play that game, we can too. We buy local SIM cards and USB modems now and it still costs less than the average cell phone plan in the States. Take that Verizon Wireless!

Will definitely check out Droam!

When I was in Iceland my phone company tried to tell me I use 197mbs of data in 4 days (when I normally use 300 in a month) and my bill was $1,300.00. I called the company a few times and cried a little and I got them to charge me only $200 thank god.
I agree its ridiculous and unfair that they charge so much! Lets hope they change it soon.
