This story hits so close to home. In July 2012 I was out at a bar, computer in a soft case in my large purse. The night went on as normal, no suspicious of macbook tampering… I had a busy couple of days and later on that week I reach into the purse to retrieve my macbook and find it sitting in about 3 inches of BEER. I can’t be certain, but I think it was left on when this happened.

I tried drying it out, silica packs all that jazz but don’t have a whole lot of hope for it. After a few weeks of it not turning on, I bought a new computer.

Fast forward to 2015, and my tech savvy boyfriend finds out about the still-stinky-beer smelling computer and says maybe he can take it apart to see if he can retrieve anything. I take out the laptop, plug it in by chance and VOILA works completely fine. Two years later it still works – he’s used it everyday since. Never give up!

Or buy Lenovo ThinkPad T or X-series, they have spill-resistent keyboards and beat anything else including Macbooks in terms of durability (and looks, tooIMO — no-nonsense business style). Look on Youtube for torture tests. They pour buckets of water on them and throw them into walls.
